The "802 Large" Advantage

Large Black Cartridge

I recently bought the HP 802 large black cartridge for my printer and noticed that it has a significantly larger sponge size ~ 2.5x larger than the one in the small cartridge.

Also, I tried exhaust tests on the cartridge and here are the results for your comparison:

The testing page I used was a document containing 231 words in a Times New Roman, font size 12, no bold/italics. (In a nutshell, it looked like a page of a book).

NO COLOR OR GRAPHICS WERE USED

I gave a 400 page print order and waited for the cartridge to exhaust out:

Results:

HP 802 Small Black (New, not refilled):

Ink Low Warning: 65 pages
Ink Exhausted, No output: 87 pages

HP 802 Small Black (New but refilled first time)

Output: 27 Pages

------------------------------------------------------------------

HP 802 Large Black (New, not refilled)

Ink Low Warning: 147 pages
Ink Exhausted, No output: 190 pages

HP 802 Large Black (New but refilled first time)

Output: 96 Pages

Conclusion:

For heavy volume users, large cartridge (LC) seems a much better option than the small cartridge (SC) because I've noticed very less leakage in the LC and there's significantly more printouts, hence less headache (although it comes nowhere near to the claimed 360 pages, but I believe my test document was too crowded with words to deliver that kind of yield).

So please invest Rs. 450/- additional initially while saving long term running costs.
